You might want something Hybrid style. Go to a bike shop and they will tell you what you what will best suit you for you circumstances. Go brands are Giant, Trek, Specialized. Most bike shops have good quality bikes even if they don't carry these brands.
I'd reccomend paying anywhere from $500 to $800.
About the detachable rims, most bikes come with the drop out axles(quick release lever). Make sure both rims have the quick release axles.
For size this chart will give you a rough idea but getting fitted is better. Bike shop can do that.
